Blue Jeans allows hosts to enable a setting that automatically mutes each participant as they join a meeting, regardless of their connection type (audio, room system, mobile device, etc). Upon entering the meeting, each attendee will see that their microphone is muted:
Participants will have the ability to un-mute themselves once connected to the meeting.
This setting is especially useful in large meeting (presentations or lectures) settings where multiple attendees joining can be disruptive to the flow of the meeting. To enable:
- Click Settings from your upper right drop down menu
- In the upper left hand menu, select Settings
- Scroll down to the Default Scheduling options and check the "Mute Participants On Entry" box. Enable this for Personal and/or One Time (Scheduled) meetings.
- After the meeting is underway, you can also make the setting from the Moderator Controls panel.
